Charsadda mosque imam accused of sexually assaulting 12-year-old boy

Victim's family too poor to pursue legal action; accused imam refuses to leave mosque despite outcry

In a shocking incident from Nasta Police Station limits in Terlandi, Shalmanabad, a mosque’s imam, Qari Taj Gul, has been accused of sexually assaulting a 12-year-old boy. The victim, Arsalan, son of Waseel, was allegedly targeted when he went to the mosque to recite the Quran and found himself alone with the imam.

According to local sources, the child bravely testified before the community members, accusing Qari Taj Gul of assaulting him five times. Enraged residents immediately demanded the imam vacate the mosque. However, the accused has defiantly refused to leave, continuing to occupy the mosque despite public outrage.

The victim’s father, Waseel, is said to be an extremely poor and helpless man, unable to take legal action due to his financial struggles. Heartbroken and powerless, he has been left with no choice but to weep over his son’s ordeal. Meanwhile, the accused imam is allegedly exploiting the family’s poverty to evade consequences.

The community has now boycotted prayers led by Qari Taj Gul, but he remains stubbornly entrenched in the mosque. Residents are calling for authorities to intervene and ensure justice for the young victim.
